Brillnat was born during the many IM (instant messaging) sessions I have had with my friend Rick.  During that time there were Guinness Beer commercials running on the television.  These commercials (if you have not seen them) have some hokey, yet appealing, graphics of two characters.  They are usually dressed in white lab coats with bow ties.  One fellow will declare that he has come up with a new invention, (Little black book, Suntan oil, Spoon...).  The other will immediately say "Brilliant!... what does it do?".  So whenever either my friend Rick or I would throw out an idea the immediate response would always be "Brilliant".  In my IM sessions with Rick, spelling and punctuation were always optional. Somehow with my lame typing and my hurry to keep the moment fresh, I seemed to always type Brillnat!  That then, became the comment of choice to new ideas.  Brillnat isn't it?

Don't get me wrong I am not endorsing Guinness Beer.  I have never had a Guinness beer.  I don't even drink beer.  But Brillnat became a way to claim my own lame sort of Brilliance and poke fun at myself at the same time..  Nearly everyone is Brilliant in their own way.  All of us have to admit that we fall far below Brilliant.  Every now and then we sneak in some brillnance.
